REAL POWER: MAXING OUT ON GOD'S LOVE |
FORGIVENESS CHECK
The sixth letter in the checklist is
F which stands for forgiveness. The first thing in the morning you
need to see if there is resentment in your heart. If you find any,
you must immediately deal with it using the power of forgiveness and
love.
Resentment is about the negative
feelings you have toward other people. Resentment literally means to
feel something again. When you repeat negative feelings, it makes you
feel worse each time you do it. Feeling bad the first time is bad
enough. But feeling bad again and again is unhealthy, and if you
persist, you will make yourself sick.
You cannot afford to harbor
resentment. The repetitive nature of resentment is what makes it so
dangerous. It’s not self-limiting and will not go away on its own.
If you don’t nip it in the bud, it quickly spirals out of control.
That’s why you must check for it and deal with it every day.
There is only one way to deal with
resentment. You must forgive. Your forgiveness must be complete and
permanent. There is no room for compromise on this point. Resentment
is always bad and always hurts you. You must treat resentment as if
it was cancer. It’s an inner malignancy that kills your spirit when
left untreated. Fortunately, God’s cure for resentment never fails.
When resentment pops into your mind,
you simply forgive the person you resent and send them your love. If
you have trouble forgiving and sending love, you need to have a talk
with God. God has forgiven and forgotten all the things you have done
wrong, and you are supposed to do the same with other people. You
must continue to forgive, forget, and send love until you no longer
have a problem with resentment. Don’t worry. If you practice
forgiving, forgetting, and sending love, soon you will become good at
it, and resentment will no longer be a problem. If you do a daily
forgiveness check, the cancer of resentment will never destroy your
life.
GO WITH GOD
The seventh letter in the checklist
is G which stands for go with God. The first six items on the
checklist focus on your spiritual condition and guarantee that your
spirit is alive and healthy. Now it’s time to stop checking and
starting doing. It’s time to move in the direction of your dreams.
Life is not meant to be a solo
adventure. You are to go with God. You don’t have to sail on a
single-handed voyage to your dreams, because God wants to make the
trip with you. Not only will He be your constant companion, He will
also be your navigator and give you the strength to make the trip.
This is the first time you have
sailed on the ocean of your dreams, but God has already made the trip
innumerable times. For God the entire voyage is in familiar
territory. He knows the exact location of all the rocks and shoals
that can destroy your dreams. If you listen to what He has to say,
you will escape unnecessary hardships that you would have brought upon
yourself if you had tried to go it alone. When you go with him, you
know that you are heading in the right direction and that you will
arrive safely at your destination.
You need power to make the trip,
especially when your arms are weary and your hands of flesh have grown
weak. God’s love still is the most powerful force in the universe,
and the power of his love will roll through your life and renew your
strength.
The Bible says, “They that wait upon
the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as
eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and shall not
faint.” In plain English, that means God will be there for you,
giving you the strength that you need to make the trip.
BECOME AN UNSTOPPABLE, CONSISTENTLY
POSITIVE, ENDLESSLY PERSISTENT, DOER OF DREAMS
Running through your checklist will
help you detect problems while they are still small, and you can
easily do something about them. You can fix them before your life
spirals out of control, and you have a disaster.
You need to have discipline in this
area. Although it takes less than five minutes to run your checklist,
you may try to get by without doing it.
If you don’t take time to prepare for
a good day, you will have to take time later to fix a bad day. If you
don’t deal with problems the first thing in the morning, they will
pursue you all day long.
This checklist prepares you for
anything life hands out. You survive the worst and achieve the best
no matter what challenges come your way. There is no limit to how
good your life can become when your spirit is robust and healthy. You
are a member of God’s Zero Ambivalence Club, and have a backpack full
of blessings to carry with you all day long. You focus on the
positive aspects of the challenges you face, and keep on keeping on.
You choose to do the loving thing, which also is the right thing. You
eradicate negative thoughts by switching the focus of your mind to the
power of God’s love. Forgiveness and love eliminate resentment from
your heart and mind. Your spirit flies like an eagle as you go with
God on the path to your dreams.
Running your checklist doesn’t cost
anything except a few minutes of your time. If you run it each
morning, you become a different person. You become an Unstoppable,
Consistently Positive, Endlessly Persistent, Doer of Dreams.
Affirmation:
Every morning I run my checklist for spiritual survival. I open my
heart and mind to God’s love and renew my membership in God’s Zero
Ambivalence Club. I count my blessings which are an expression of
God’s love. I focus on the positive aspects of every challenge, and
God’s love gives me the power to keep on keeping on. When I face hard
decisions, I make them easy by always doing the loving thing. I
eradicate my negative thoughts by focusing my mind on God’s love.
When resentment pokes up its ugly head, I decapitate it with
forgiveness and love. My spirit soars like an eagle as I go with God
on the flight path to my dreams. The power of God’s love makes me
into a new person. I am an Unstoppable, Consistently Positive,
Endlessly Persistent, Doer of Dreams.
