REAL POWER: MAXING OUT ON GOD'S LOVE |

LEADING THE WAY
God designed us so that the most of
the time our mind would lead the way, and our emotions and will would
follow. After we make up our mind, usually our emotions and will come
along for the ride. Once our intellect, emotions, and will all head
in the same direction, they gradually come into balance so they all
pull with equal force in the direction of our dreams.
Sometimes our will leads the way and
our heart and mind lag behind. This is what happens when we exercise
faith. We step out in the direction of our dreams regardless of the
consequences. Our mind and heart may be skeptical and fearful at
first, but faith shows the way, and eventually our heart and mind
catch up.

In matters of understanding, our mind
usually leads the way. In matters of love, our heart usually leads,
and in matters of faith, our will usually shows the way. No matter
which leads, when all three come into balance, we become whole people.
THREE BIG QUESTIONS
Each time we face an important
decision, we must ask ourselves three questions:
1.
Do I want it with my head?
2.
Do I want it with my heart?
3.
Am I willing to do whatever it
takes?
If we answer yes to all three
questions, ambivalence isn’t a problem.

If we answer no to any of the
questions, ambivalence is a major problem. We may as well stop right
where we are and resolve our ambivalence before we try to move ahead.
We will never experience excellence if we are ambivalent about whether
we want to achieve it.
Ambivalence is greatest when we head
into new territory. For most people the future is terrifying. Most
would choose a boring steady state existence over a life full of
adventure. It’s easier and less frightening. Surprises make people
uncomfortable because they don’t know if they are courting disaster as
they stand on the threshold of their dreams.

As we head into the unknown, it’s
hard to get our head and heart around the corner and over the next
hill to where the future lies. It’s much safer to stay where we are.
Our head can think of dozens of logical reasons why it’s a bad idea to
boldly go where no one has gone before. Our heart can conjure up
enough fear to keep us where we are forever. It’s only the will that
is ready to take the step of faith regardless of the consequences.
The will often has to drag the unwilling heart and protesting mind
into the future.

ALL ABOARD
Ambivalence tears us apart because
who we are is heading in three different directions. Our head wants
one thing, our heart wants another, and our will is either not willing
or only too willing, and tramples our head and heart as it stampedes
off on its own. We feel like we are coming apart. We don’t feel like
a whole person because we are not a whole person. We can’t be a whole
person until all parts of us head in the same direction.

Ambivalence in our spiritual life
means we have no power. Ambivalence puts handcuffs on God and limits
his ability to help us. Our mind, heart, and will must head in the
same direction for God to be able to do big things in our life.
When a train is ready to leave the
station, the conductor steps out on the platform and shouts, “All
aboard.” The only way for a passenger to get where he wants to go is
to get on board. That is the way our life is. The train to our
dreams is ready to depart, and we need to get everyone on board. We
need to get our head, heart, and will on board if we are going to live
our dreams. One out of three or two out of three isn’t good enough.
All of them must be on board for our dreams to come true. The same is
true in our relationship with God. When all three are on board, the
relationship happens. One or the other may lead the way, but they all
need to get on board to make the trip.
Now is the time to shout “All aboard”
in our relationship with God. Now is the time to love God with all of
our mind, all of our heart, and all of our strength. It will be the
smartest thing we ever do.
It’s time to join the Zero
Ambivalence Club. We need to get our mind, heart, and will all
heading in the same direction. When that happens, we become an
Unstoppable, Consistently Positive, Endlessly Persistent, Doer of
Dreams. There is no limit to how good our life can become when we
join God’s Zero Ambivalence Club.
Affirmation:
I am a member of God’s Zero Ambivalence Club. I love God with all my
mind, all my heart, and all my strength. I live congruently with my
intellect, emotions and will all heading in the direction of God’s
love. I follow God’s plan for my life, and I am an Unstoppable,
Consistently Positive, Endlessly Persistent, Doer of Dreams.
